I thought to begin this blog by explaining the purpose of the SALT Network.

This blog was written part way through a dedicated path I chose to follow.  Many of you are following and embarking on this same path daily.  Let this BLOG be encouraging.  No matter what your faith we are called to be essential and essentially sold out in that you will subscribe to it will all you are able to muster!

To many of my former co workers, bosses and friends this is what I meant when I said I intend to be the SALT in the work place.

                                                  Salt and Light

¹³ “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

¹⁴ “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. ¹⁵ Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. ¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

                                                                     Matthew 5:13-16

As a Christian I found it is essential to be that which influences and enhances everything and everyone around me.  This can be applied no matter where you are, whether you are at home, work, school, or church.  Wherever you are you should be of good influence.  If you are the SALT then everything that you touch should be transformed or enhanced because of your presence.  For my urban readers if you are involved in a beef it should be that...that beef should begin to taste salty... because salt could never taste beefy.

This would be a good time for me to assure you that I do not consider myself a minister or preacher but education is my passion and because of it I tend to share all the good information I obtain.  I simply want to let my Fathers good light shine through my deeds and give glory to His name.

2009 - up until now has been quite an eye opener.  So much so that I was led to highlight so many of the experiences we are facing and looking to be the salt.  Feel free to comment, or ask questions.  I only ask that we respect the views of everyone taking their time to visit and participate in the network. So.....as many of us near this holiday season FAMILY is the theme that runs alongside those celebrated and commercialized aspects of what is at the heart of both seasons.  This will be the first Thanksgiving I will celebrate without my great grandmother..Yes the women in my family live a very long time Amen... lol.  How will you be the SALT this holiday????
